About Me
My Journey
Hi, I'm Adriana, maker of Polymer Clay jewellery, mother to four amazing children and “home gym” powerlifter.
Studio "Sol Y Mar" (Sun and Sea) came to be, thanks to finding myself unemployed during COVID.
My spare time was an "opportunity' to allow my mind to be bored and open to new possibilities.
Sooo, when I wasn't CrossFitting or lifting weights in my garage, I was on the socials.
I saw my first polymer clay reel on instagram in August 2021 and was hooked.
At first I was cautious handling the clay but I now walk around with clay embedded in my callouses.
Getting back to being creative and using my hands (other than to sumo deadlift 135kg) has been more than just therapy.
Making something beautiful and unique that others appreciate has given me enormous satisfaction.
A handmade labour of love that rewards both the maker and recipient.
I'm truly honoured you have stopped by my humble site.
I hope you have found something you love as well as a little inspiration to get back to being creative.
Background & Company Name
In my childhood, if I wasn't studying or at the beach, I was creating.
Baking, cross stitching, knitting or sewing.
Whilst raising my children and working partime jobs I still dabbled in crafts.
Cake decorating, copper foiling, lead lighting, knitting, quilting, crochet, ceramics and now polymer clay.
Growing up by the beach meant I spent many summers basking in the sun's warmth and cooling off in the ocean.
Sun and Sea is truly in my veins. It's where I find peace, comfort as well as clarity.
My name also derives from the Latin Adrianus, meaning “sea” or “water”.
Hence the name "Sol y Mar" - in spanish, thanks to my Chilean heritage.
